The Miguel Servet University Hospital, is the 27th Spanish center that participates in this initiative, where six superheroes with their briefcase full of super powers,  accompany the children during their chemotherapy treatment and helps them to live normally the medical process.

The objectives of this proposal are: to help children and their families in believing in the cure, and support them psychologically during the treatment. The interaction with the superheroes will change the perception and the fear of the healing process.

How does the “Poción de Héroes” works?

Before starting the treatment, each child must choose what superhero is going to help to overthrow the great villain “Villanus”: Invisible Kid, Fire Girl, Kinetic Handsome Boy, Wall Girl, Elastic Boy and Thunderbolt Girl . Once chosen, they receive the briefcase of “Powers”.

Each briefcase contains different objects of the hero who will accompany them during the treatment. One of these objects is a comic telling the story of Villanus, which is called cancer by the elders. In a simple way, it explains how this very ugly cell wants to make an army and, in order to fight against it, it’s necessary a magic potion called chemotherapy. The briefcase also has a poster to decorate the hospital room, a pin to put in the pajamas or the shirt, a passport that will be stamped after every chemotherapy session, a candy bag, a cap and special stickers to be adhered in the bag of the treatment serum.

In addition, they will enjoy this initiative through FAN3, a TV channel specially designed to hospitalized children, where a video will show the superheroes’ comic explaining what is the cancer and its treatment.
